The "Gran grif" gang sows terror in Liancourt

On Tuesday February 7, 2023, Savien's "Gran grif" gang sowed terror once again in Liancourt. At least two gunshot dead and two injured were reported. A fuel truck was hijacked by the gang.

Ten passengers released

Following the kidnapping on Saturday February 4th, 2023 in the locality of Liancourt (municipality of Saint-Marc. Former Senator Desras victim of an attack

Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at Canaan (commune of Croix-des-Bouquets) heavily armed individuals opened fire on the vehicle of former Senator Simon Dieuseul Desras. He came out safe and sound except for a few small scratches, a policeman who fought back and scared the attackers away and a niece also in the vehicle, came out unscathed from this attack. The driver was slightly injured and is receiving the care his condition requires.

"The tourism sector is catastrophic"

"The situation of the tourism sector is catastrophic [...] Today we have less than 100,000 visitors per year compared to 500,000 and 600,000 between 2015, 2016 and 2017. The sector has been in free fall for more than four years. We have lost 50 to 70% of direct and indirect jobs in the sector," declared Raïna Forbin, President of the Haiti Tourist Association (ATH) on a radio station in the capital.
