Gonaïves, gang rape at the Prison

The Platform of Women Organized for the Development of Artibonite reports that on the night of Thursday January 26 to Friday January 27, 2023, during an escape attempt, 16 women (between 19 and 60 years old) and 1 girl minor (17 years old), incarcerated in Gonaïves prison were victims of gang rape by prisoners.

Monday, January 30, the Prime Minister, Dr. Ariel Henry, had a fruitful working session with the three members of the High Council of the Transition (HCT), Mrs. Mirlande H. Manigat, Laurent Saint-Cyr and Calixte Fleuridor. Several topics of national interest were discussed. Monday the Ambassador of Haiti to the United States Bocchit Edmond, received a courtesy visit from Ambassador Miroslav Jenča, Assistant Secretary-General for Europe, Central Asia and the Americas at the Department of Political Affairs of the Nations United. "We had a frank conversation on the security crisis in Haiti and the role of the United Nations in the search for a lasting solution."
