Haiti - Politic : EDH explains rationing and blackouts

The Electricity of Haiti (EDH) in a note, explains the drastic rationing of the number of hours of electricity or even the total blackout in certain areas of the country.

The company mentions "the drop in the level of Lake Péligre due to the dry season, the fuel crisis aggravated by the control of strategic areas by armed gangs and technical problems of a structural nature requiring major investments..."

Given the situation, the EDH informs its subscribers that quite significant changes have been made to the electrical current distribution program.

The company announces that while waiting for the next rainy season and the resolution of the national crises which are not sparing the energy sector, the General Directorate is in the process of implementing "a rotating distribution strategy with the minimum of power available, in order to be able to offer even at a discount to its subscribers a distribution of energy."

"EDH is appealing for understanding from its subscribers who unfortunately are not being powered as usual and renews its determination to continue to respond to these growing challenges facing the institution."
