Haiti - Tourism : Minister François reactivates her priorities in Cap-Haitien

The Minister of Tourism, Luz Kurta Cassandra François on a mission in the North took the opportunity to reactivate major projects with partners in the northern metropolis. During her stay, the Minister notably met Mrs. Yvrose Pierre Mayor of Cap-Haitien and her deputy Patrick Almonor to discuss the obstacles to the effective tourist development of the city of Cap-Haitien, in particular the sanitation of the city and the finalization of the coastal road.

Preparations for the organization of Carnival 2023, which is intended to be a major tourist event, and the monitoring of the twinning project with the city of New Orleans were also discussed.

The discussions on the sanitation of the city revolved around the calls for tenders which have been launched to provide Cap with a selective waste sorting center, the work of which should begin in June 2023.

In the meantime, the Town Hall is working with other institutions to better organize waste collection in order to make the town more attractive.

At the same time, the Minister met, Friday, January 20, 2023, the Ambassador of France in Haiti, Fabrice Mauriès, the President of the Alliance Française, Ms. Chantal Laroche and notable Capois working around the enhancement of art Haitian. The members of the Municipal Commission and Ambassador Mauriès discussed the opportunity to strengthen cooperation between the Town Hall and the Alliance française of Cap-Haitien, particularly in the context of the cultural policy of the city and the tourism industry. Ambassador Mauriès also pleaded for the revitalization of cooperation between the city of Ville de Suresnes and the city of Cap-Haitien.

In addition, following a meeting with Patrick BELIARD, President of the North Destination Management Organization (OGDNH) and its Executive Director, Valéry TASSY, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Ministry of Tourism and the OGDNH. Joint actions of the Ministry of Tourism and the OGDNH are envisaged as part of the reinforcement of the tourist offer and the promotion of the North destination.
