Haiti - Cap-Haitien : Towards the modernization of public transport

Friday, January 13, Patrick Almonor, the Deputy Mayor of Cap-Haïten gathered at the Municipal Palace, the representatives of the public transport unions of the municipality to discuss joint actions aimed at the modernization of this sector.

During this meeting, in addition to the issue of modernization, restructuring of the transport sector, other subjects were discussed including the municipal decrees in force concerning the circulation, identification and regularization of the drivers of Motorcycle Taxi, Car and Van as well as the technical implementations to achieve it.

This meeting was an opportunity for the deputy mayor to reaffirm the Municipal Commission's desire to modernize this sector while announcing urgent measures to improve the movement of populations in the municipality.

To this end, Almonor believes that in parallel with the construction of road infrastructures, including the study of the SOS road which must be completed by April 2023, the construction of new modern bus stations should constitute the starting point for this reform of the transport sector.

The Municipal Commission, which wants to make this sector a fundamental asset within the framework of the Cap-Haitien destination, promises to do everything possible and to take all the measures deemed useful in order to be able to implement the Communal Development Plan.
