Haiti - Economy : Martelly talks of investments at the Clinton Global Initiative

On the sidelines of the 66th UN General Assembly, held currently in New York, the President Martelly presented the situation of Haiti, to a group of businessmen, to encourage them to come and invest and show them the benefits of the country for the business.

This meeting took place under the obedience of the Clinton Foundation with the participation among others: of the former U.S. President Bill Clinton, Luis A. Moreno, the President of the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB), Dennis O'Brien, Chairman of Digicel and W. K. Kim, President of the Company SAE-A Trading Co, the world leader in the Korean textile industry, which invests $78 million in the Industrial Park North.

It is under many applause from participants, who have made severals standing ovation, that the President Martelly explained the benefits of Haiti. He pledged to take more decisions, to facilitate the coming of people interested to do business in Haiti, like proposing to the Parliament, two laws to reduce the time that takes the State to grant permits and licenses, to establish a business.

Former President Bill Clinton, in front of an audience composed of people looking for investment opportunities, supported the position of President Martelly, and gave a nod, not only to the willingness that the Haitians have to work, but also to the good reputation they have as workers everywhere.

The Presidents Kim and Denis O’Brien have told how they made ​​the decision to invest in Haiti in a difficult time, to try to convince many potential investors present, to do the same.

Martelly President, presented the measures that the new government will take to protect the investment, stressing the importance, that Haiti divorce of the idea of leaders that make believe that the country is worse that it is.
