Haiti - Music : Graduation to the first class of INAMUH 18/12/2022 08:40:14
The ceremony took place at the Museum of the Haitian National Pantheon in the presence of several personalities including Emmelie Prophet Milcé, the Minister of Culture and several Directors General of Devolved Organizations of the Ministry. These 20 young men and a woman who for several months learned to play the guitar, the saxophone, the drums, the trumpet among others in the various homes of the Institute located in several cities of the country in particular Hinche, Jacmel and Marmalade. The officials of the Ministry and the Institute expressed their satisfaction with the graduation of this first promotion of INAMUH and renewed their commitment to continue to train young people, especially those from the most vulnerable neighborhoods. Pierre Rigaud Chéry, Academic Director of INAMUH, congratulated these young people who decided to learn to play string, wind and percussion instruments in order to be able to change their communities through music. Chéry then returned to the steps that led to the creation of the Institute, which already has 4 centers and recommended the continuation of arrangements to allow INAMUH to establish itself in all 10 departments. In his speech, Juan Carlos François, laureate of the promotion, (mention of excellence) thanked the Government, in particular the Ministry of Culture and praised the work of the teachers, freed from the discouragement which had enabled him and his comrades to play music easily. He promised to represent Haitian music and culture with honor. Minister Emmelie Prophète Milcé said she was convinced that for the country to change, education and professional training must be strengthened in all areas, including music.
