Cholera situation in Haiti:

Partial assessment of cholera in Haiti according to data from the Department of Epidemiology, Laboratories and Research of the Ministry of Public Health.

November 15, 2022:(latest data available)

Data calculated since the first confirmed case (October 3, 2022)

Total suspected cases: 9,317 cases +337 (+3.75%) in 24 hours (the day before: +723 cases in 48 hours)

Total confirmed cases: 807 cases +3 (+0.37%) in 24 hours, (the day before: 13 cases in 48 hours)

Total suspected cases hospitalized: 8,146 cases +310 (+3.95%) in 24 hours, (the day before +696 in 48 hours)

Total deaths: 174 deaths (117 institutional and 57 community) +7 deaths (+4.19%) in 24 hours, (the day before: +12 deaths in 48 hours).

Less than 1 year: +188 (-)

1-4 years: 1,728 cases (+48)

5-9 years: 1,267 cases (+43)

10-14 years: 589 cases (+20)

Definitions:

Suspected cases:

Anyone with acute watery, profuse diarrhea with or without vomiting and dehydration

Confirmed case:

Any suspected case with a positive culture for “Vibrio cholerae” or presenting an epidemiological link with a confirmed case of cholera

Hospitalized case:

Any suspected or confirmed case that spends at least 24 hours in a care centre

Institutional death:

Any suspected or confirmed case who dies in a treatment center.

Community death:

Any suspected case that dies outside of a caring institution.
