Haiti - Reconstruction : $95 million for the construction of housing and neighborhoods

The President Michel Martelly, via a team of Advisors, officially launched yesterday Thursday to City Hall of Delmas, the "Port-au-Prince Neighborhood Reconstruction and Housing Program", a program to support housing construction and neighborhoods, through the hrough the Participatory Development Projects in Urban Areas of PRODEPURT and of PRECARD, based on the pilot experience carried out in Delmas 32​​.

Of a total amount of $95 million, this housing construction project, target over 15,000 families and is part of the strategy of the Administration of the Head of State to relocate gradually, the victims of January 2010, while creating appropriate conditions in neighborhoods with the rehabilitation of schools, the installation of health centers and other infrastructure.

The President Martelly specifies that the constructions will be completed according an urban plan and of land use that will truly meet the requirements of the populations concerned. Determined to tackle quickly and effectively the problems of housing in Haiti, the President invites all sectors of national life, particularly the economic sector, to bring their support.

The the "Port-au-Prince Neighborhood Reconstruction and Housing Program". is funded by a US$30 million grant from the Bank's International Development Association (IDA) and a US$65 million grant from the Haiti Reconstruction Fund (HRF) and implemented by the World Bank.
