Haiti - Insecurity : 4 Haitians injured in Haiti by a gang, treated in a Dominican hospital
Four Haitians including 3 women were attacked by several armed individuals, not far from Ganthier, a town located about 35 kilometers from the Haitian-Dominican border Malpasse / Jimaní.
The group of Haitians was violently attacked by bandits who wanted to rob them, wounding the victims with bullets : Marie Audanicia Jeremy (56), injured in the head in the frontal region; Brinot Esail (34), injured in the right forearm; Michel Pérez (50) injured in the left arm and Sages Lloná (27).
After this incident, the victims were taken to the José Melenciano Provincial General Hospital in Jimaní to receive first aid and stabilize their condition. The 4 Haitians were then transferred to the Jaime Mota Regional University Hospital in Barahona for treatment.
According to the victims, they were attacked by surprise by men from a gang who, according to their testimony, usually operate in the eastern part of Port-au-Prince.
The movement of these men outside their territory is worrying and makes travel on the road to and from the Malpasse/Jimaní border dangerous. Note that the increase in thefts on the roads affects the commercial activities of the Malpasse / Jimaní binational border market by reducing the number of Haitian buyers and sellers.
