Haiti - Justice : The ULCC hands over evidence of corruption, representing 500 million losses for the State

Thursday, August 25, 2022, Me Hans Jacques Ludwig Joseph, the Director General of the Anti-Corruption Unit (ULCC) handed to Justice of 10 investigation reports on well-documented proven facts of cases of corruption representing the total more than 500 million gourdes in losses for the State.

These investigation reports relate to acts of embezzlement of public property, illegal award of contracts, corruption, misappropriation, abuse of power and mismanagement, both in the central administration of the State and in local authorities.

Those concerned by these acts of corruption are: the Industrial Development Fund (FDI); the town halls of Petit-Goâve, Fort-Liberté, Anse-Rouge, Cerca Cavajal, and Saint-Raphaël; the National Police of Haiti debit card; the Gonaives School of Law and Economics; the Joseph Pierre Sully College of Maissade, the Justice of the Peace of the North Section of Gonaïves and the Haitian State Lottery.

Me Joseph invites the Government Commissioners and judges to increase their efforts to recover these embezzled assets and asks the courts for appropriate sanctions for politicians and public officials who have deliberately violated the law.

He also submitted to the judicial authorities more than 70 requests concerning political figures for failure to declare assets, including : Caleb Desrameaux, Lemaire Pierre, Bélizaire Printemps, Kétel Jean Philippe, Jean Marie Florestal, Jean Marcel Lumérant, Bertrand Sinal, Jacob Latortue and Pierre Féquière Julien...
