Haiti - Politic : Reaction of former Minister Claude Joseph on the publication of the OAS

Following the publication on the official website of the OAS of a text which accuses and denounces the failures of the International Community https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-37355-haiti-flash-the-oas-accuses-and-denounces-20-years-of-failures-in-haiti-of-the-international-community.html former Prime Minister and former Chancellor Claude Joseph via his secretariat reacted quickly in a press release.

Press release from the Secretariat of former Prime Minister Claude Joseph :

"The Organization of American States (OAS) presented on August 8, 2022, through a press release from the General Secretariat, a dismal report on the situation in Haiti https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-37355-haiti-flash-the-oas-accuses-and-denounces-20-years-of-failures-in-haiti-of-the-international-community.html .

The Secretariat of Former Prime Minister Claude Joseph notes that the hemispheric organization has attributed the responsibility for the aggravation of the Haitian crisis to national actors but also and above all to the international community which, over the past two decades, has been unable to facilitate the building of institutions with the capacity to respond to Haiti's needs.

The Secretariat of the Former Prime Minister also notes that, according to the OAS, any process of recovery of Haiti in terms of security, democracy and development will require, despite its characterized failure, the necessary participation of the international community, which will have to engage differently through institutionalized and centralized mechanisms.

In this context, the Secretariat maintains that it is first and foremost up to the Haitians to tackle the resolution of the crisis and the construction of a Haiti on the scale of its glorious history and that the the international community's support for Haiti's recovery can only be complementary to national efforts. In addition, the Secretariat also invites young people, who represent the future of the Nation, to commit to helping the development and transformation of Haiti."
