During the night from Monday to Tuesday July 26, 2022, around 1 a.m., men from the "400 mawozo" gang in retaliation for the major police operation carried out on Monday July 25 in the afternoon on their territory (in response to the Sunday execution by men of police inspector Réginald Laleau https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-37236-haiti-flash-a-police-inspector-executed-inside-a-church.html ), attacked the Tribunal of Croix-des-bouquets, which they riddled with bullets, vandalized and partially set on fire.

According to Government Commissioner Roosevelt Zamor, the damage is significant, stating that the bandits entered the building, vandalizing and setting fire to the administration and the registry, where an undetermined number of important documents and files were destroyed by fire or taken away...

Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

In a press note, Berto Dorcé, the Minister of Justice a.i.

"[...] vehemently condemns the arson attack on the premises of the Public Prosecutor's Office near the Court of First Instance of the jurisdiction of Croix-des-Bouquets, on the night of Monday July 25 to Tuesday July 26, 2022.

It urges the judicial and police authorities of the jurisdiction to take urgent and drastic measures to track down the perpetrators and accomplices of these despicable acts and bring them to justice, in accordance with the law.

While asking the population not to panic, Minister Dorcé takes the opportunity to remind everyone that arrangements are being made to immediately restore order, peace and security throughout the national territory [...]"
