Haiti - Education : Michaelle Jean confirms that UNESCO has funds for free education

Michaelle Jean, Unesco special envoy for Haiti and former Governor General of Canada is in Haiti since August 31 as part of a mission of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), she is currently touring across the country, mainly in Port-au-Prince, Léogâne, Jacmel and Cap Haitien, the aim of this tour is among other the rebuilding of the education system, on this subject Ms. Jean said that UNESCO has funds to strengthen the capacity of the Haitian state in its extensive program of free education.

On Thursday she met the President of the Republic, Michel Martelly ,she also plans to meet with the rector of the State University of Haiti (UEH) as part of a teacher training project supported by UNESCO .

Michaëlle Jean is also in the country to search potentials to develop, support the economic sector by the strengthening the capacity of the territorial collectivities, of the tourist sector and cultural.

The special envoy asks to the politicians to prioritize the national interest at the expense of their personal interests to give the country a prime minister in the shortest possible time.
