Saturday, early in the morning, unidentified armed individuals, for an unknown reason, shot and killed Divisional Inspector Jean Nickson Faverdieu, Head of Operations of the Departmental Unit for Maintaining Order (UDMO) West 1, while he was driving his vehicle on Christophe Avenue (Port-au-Prince), confirmed the Divisional Inspector, Garry Desrosiers, Spokesperson for the National Police of Haiti (PNH)

The assassination occurred as Inspector Faverdieu appeared to be heading towards Toussaint Louverture International Airport.

Hit by several bullets, Jean Nickson Faverdieu was rushed to hospital, where he did not survive the severity of his injuries.

Desrosiers specified that an investigation is open in order to gather information and determine the exact circumstances of this assassination.
