Haiti - Technology : Modernization of air traffic management at the International Airport

The French firm Thales Group, world leader for more than 50 years in ATM Air Traffic Management solutions and Aeronav, expert in project installation, will provide Haiti with communication, navigation, surveillance, meteorology and air traffic management that will allow Haiti to switch to a new era of modern and secure airspace management.

For more than 20 years, Thales, in collaboration with the National Office of Civil Aviation (OFNAC) in Haiti, has been working on the ATM equipment modernization project. Thanks to the renewal of the air traffic management system provided by Thales and Aeronav, the Toussaint Louverture International Airport will be able to operate with all the ATM centers in the region, guaranteeing risk-free interoperability between its systems, the OFNAC and adjacent country systems to improve coordination and security of operations near borders and in the region.

Thales will equip Haiti with "TopSky - AIM", a complete and modular suite allowing the management, traceability and accessibility of aeronautical information from all ATM components, but also the new "TopSky - ATC" system (en-route, approach and tower air traffic), a system that helps air traffic control operators find the best routes.

The simplicity of TopSky's human-machine interface - ATC and the ease of implementing maintenance procedures across all systems will make it easier for air traffic controllers and maintenance teams to upgrade products.

Finally, Thales will equip Haiti with an RSM970S, a monopulse secondary surveillance radar capable of providing full support to the controller in complex air traffic conditions, with two redundant ADS-B stations Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast and a cooperative surveillance broadcast system for all phases of aircraft operations.

The solutions provided will guarantee an optimized management of Haitian air traffic, in accordance with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and international.

Note that this contract of 11 million dollars is financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB)

Note that the solutions proposed in Haiti are already operational today in Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, Central America via the 6 member countries of COCESNA, in the Dominican Republic, in Jamaica, Panama, Aruba, St Martin and St Barthelemy.
