Haiti - FLASH : Variant Omicron, new health measures for traveling to the USA

The new Omicron variant has started to multiply in the United States. 10 cases have already been detected as of Thursday, November 3, 2021, including 5 in New York states but also in Minnesota and Hawaii. In several of these cases, the people had not traveled, which confirms that it is a local contamination and that the new variant "Omicron" (of which the dangerousness is still unknown), detected for the first time in South Africa, began to be transmitted between people on American soil.

Faced with this new variant, President Biden, who said earlier this week that he did not intend to impose any new travel restrictions immediately to limit the spread of the Omicron variant in the United States, pesented Thursday evening new measures intended to prevent a new outbreak of the Covid epidemic on American soil.

Consequently, from Monday, December 6, 2021 midnight (Eastern Standard Time) all travelers arriving in the United States, whether or not they are vaccinated, must present a negative test carried out no later than 24 hours before the time of their flight. Remember that before this new decision, a test could be carried out within three days before take-off.

According to White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki shouldn't expect "this measure to be lifted until we know more about this variant."

Note that domestic flights are not affected by this new measure for the moment.
