Haiti - Cinema : The film Haiti «Freda» Prize for the best film TV5 Quebec-Canada
The Haitian film "Fréda" by director Gessica Geneus, Produced by Ayizan Prod of Haiti, Sanosi Prod (France) and Merveille Prod (Benin) won the TV5 Quebec-Canada Best Film Award at the closing ceremony of the 27th edition of the CINEMANIA film festival in Montreal.

For a rare time in its history, the jury awarded the TV5 Quebec-Canada Best Film Prize to two tied films. Rémy Girard, co-president of the jury, explained the difficulties encountered by the members of the jury in determining the winners. That’s why, for the TV5 Quebec Canada Best Film Award, the jury decided to honor two tied films. The first, a heartbreaking film "Freda" about childhood struggles, with an exceptional young actor of magnificent beauty and incredible character. The second "Petite Natutre" by French director Samuel Theis with a touching cast, a precious look at the country's youth and a rare female point of view on its society [...]"

The film "Freda" tells the story of three women who have decided to leave a disadvantaged town in the grip of growing insecurity after a traumatic event.

"Freda is first and foremost the name of a young woman in search of emancipation. From the small grocery store her mother runs, Freda is confronted with this ambient anger as a man is gunned down on her doorstep. The onset of physical death cannot obscure more intimate demons, and the film will never cease to be crossed by the attempts of its main protagonist to reveal deeply buried traumas."
