Haiti - Education : Important partnership meeting between the Ministry of Education and the BRH

Wednesday November 17, Marie Lucie Joseph, Minister of National Education had an important working meeting with Jean Baden Dubois, Governor of the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH)

Minister Joseph was accompanied by its Director General Meniol Jeune, by one of his advisers, Professor Guy Serge Pompilus, by the Administrative Director of the Ministry, Nobert Chéry and by the Director General of the National Institute for Vocational Training (INFP), Dikel Delvariste.

For his part, Governor Dubois was accompanied by two members of the Board: Myrtho René and Edgard Jeudy, Gwendoline Darguste (Department of International Affairs), Yvrose Joseph (Financial Inclusion Unit) and Rotchild François Jr. (Department of communication and public affairs).

For more than three hours, Minister Joseph and Governor Dubois took stock of various ongoing or future partnership projects linking the two institutions.

In particular, progress was made on financial education and the steps already taken with the National Strategy for Financial Inclusion, the National Strategy for Financial Education and the National Plan for Financial Education, three founding documents of this new partnership.

Regarding financial education, discussions revolved around the need to introduce children to financial concepts at an early age. With the curricular reform projects underway, the two parties believe that it is opportune to study the possibility of introducing them into school curricula.

With the INFP, the BRH plans to launch a training funding program based on the sectors that meet the needs of the job market. This will be a loan that students will have to repay once they are employed or have developed their own business. However, the Ministry and the BRH have agreed to launch a pilot phase in the Grand Sud before extending this program to other departments.

In addition, the BRH intends to contribute to the creation of a digital campus in each public university in the region and to prepare a memorandum of understanding for this purpose.

The two parties agreed on the need to increase these meetings with the idea of evaluating, according to a common agenda, the progress recorded in the implementation of these projects which only aim to enhance the value of children's training and of young Haitians.
