On the occasion of the International Day against breast cancer, yesterday Tuesday, October 19, 2021, the leading cause of death from cancer in women in the world, the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP) salutes the courage of all women and men (rare, less than 1% of all breast cancers affect men) around the world who are fighting this disease, especially those in Haiti.

The MSPP invites the population to put into practice the following advice to prevent breast cancer :

- No smoking

- Significantly reduce alcohol consumption

- Play sports

- Eat fruits and vegetables regularly

- Control your body weight

- Practice regular breast palpation using appropriate techniques

- Do a mammogram from 40 years of age or older

- Consult your doctor regularly for the early detection of cancerous lesions

In 2018 alone, of the 12,366 new cases of cancer, all cases combined, recorded in Haiti, 6,566 were women, and 16.8%, or 1,015 cases concerned breast cancer, which makes this disease the most common cancer in wife.
