Haiti - Politic : Reverend Jesse Jackson demands that Congress finance a Marshall Plan for Haiti

On Friday October 15, 2021, Reverend Jesse L. Jackson Sr. and several Haitian leaders held a press conference at the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, 930 E. 50th St., to demand that Congress fund a Marshall Plan to rebuild Haiti and for President Biden to promulgate an immediate executive decree to stop the deportations and expulsions of Haitian migrants at the US border.

"Haitians are human, and they should be treated with dignity and respect just like other migrants seeking entry to the U.S. The United States and the entire western world owe Haiti a debt," said Rev. Jackson.

The leaders of several diaspora organizations sent a letter to the Biden Administration including a litany of requests including : free legal services for asylum seekers, humanitarian support for Haitian migrants pending the processing of their request in the form of food, clothing, shelter and health care. They also demand that all qualified migrants be vaccinated against Covid-19 and that the Biden Administration grant them Temporary Protected Status (TPS) so that they can work, finally tht they also have a social justice program that they want Congress and the Biden administration to approve.
