Haiti - Politic : Senator Lambert criticizes the concentration of power in the hands of the Prime Minister

Senator Joseph Lambert President of the upper house, continues to criticize the agreement for a peaceful and effective good governance of the interim period signed on September 11, 2021 by Prime Minister Ariel Henry and a fraction of the opposition and the Civil Society , https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-34722-haiti-flash-the-radical-opposition-sdp-signs-the-agreement-for-peaceful-governance-with-pm-henry.html

Lambert warns "This agreement is a coup that concentrates power in the hands of one man /B>; it is a brutal return to a fought past, absolute power. It won't work."

The President of the Senate at the head of the 10 senators who still have an active mandate until 2023 lamented that Prime Minister Henry ignored the rest of the consensus reached by other groups, in particular the Commission for the search for a Haitian solution to the crisis, the university community or the "Mache pou lavi" platform.

For Senator Lambert, the Prime Minister's agreement is also "an affront to the Haitian population which does not take into account the constitutional requirements and grants the Prime Minister even what is not foreseen."

He also criticized the publication of this agreement in the official journal, "Le Moniteur" recalling "The Senate is a democratic institution which has the duty to oppose any drift that disrupts the uses of institutional life.

Lambert concluded that the application of this agreement is impossible and that "it is the Haitian people who will once again bear the brunt of the delay in the renewal of political staffr ."
