Haiti - Earthquake : The Minister of Health on assessment tour in the South

Marie Gréta Roy Clément, the Minister of Public Health, her Director General Dr Lauré Adrien and several executives of the Ministry made a 3-day tour in the south of the country to assess the damage caused by the earthquake of August 14 to several health infrastructures in Nippes and the South.
These assessments will allow the Ministry to know which health institutions need to be repaired and which need to be demolished to rebuild them. The Minister of Health took the opportunity to meet the health directors of these departments as well as the heads of health establishments to assess the lack of health personnel, equipment and medical supplies so that the Ministry can continue to reinforce them.
In the department of Nippes, Minister Clément and her team visited health establishments in the towns of Miragoâne, Anse-à-Veau, Ano and L'Asil.
In the South department, the delegation visited health establishments in the towns of Les Cayes, Coteaux, Port-Salut, Port-à-Piment and Aquin. Assessment visits to health facilities in the department of Grand'Anse are scheduled for the near future.
The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) which also participates in the post-earthquake assessment of health infrastructure in the 3 departments of Haiti (Grand'Anse, Nippes and South) severely affected by the major earthquake of magnitude 7.2 on the Richter scale, August 14, 2021 drew up a partial bian :
Of the 88 health infrastructures already assessed, 59 (67%) are affected of which 32 (54%) are damaged and 27 (46%) severely damaged and 29 are intact (32%)
Grand'Anse, 15 establishments affected :
• 6 damaged
• 9 severely damaged
Nippes - 7 establishments affected :
• 5 damaged
• 2 severely damaged
South - 37 establishments affected :
• 21 damaged
• 16 severely damaged
