Haiti - Mexico : Muscular interception of migrants, dozens of Haitians arrested (Video)

Last week, the National Guard and the National Institute of Migration (INM) tried to contain the passage of what they called a new caravan of migrants on the Huehuetán highway, between the municipalities of Huehuetán and Tuzantán (Chiapas).

The National Institute of Migration admitted that members of the agency attacked migrants during an operation by the National Guard and the INM to stop the passage of about 400 people in an irregular migratory situation, coming from Haiti, Honduras, Venezuela and El Salvador trying to cross the southern border to Chiapas. Along the way, this caravan had violently collided with elements of the National Guard, migration and Mexican military forces on the Huehuetán highway.

The INM explained that a migrant had hit an officer and for this reason his colleagues overreacted, but in an excessive way "Federal immigration officers have assumed inappropriate conduct and alien to the protocols and compliance policies promoted by the Institute" said the INM

For his part, Defense Secretary General Luis Crescencio Sandoval said that the main objective of the military deployed to the southern border was to stop all illegal migration.

Thursday, September 2, 2021, dozens of Haitian migrants who had left Tapachula in recent days after waiting in vain for their transit papers were arrested by agents of the INM and the national guard, as they crossed the State from Chiapas, in the south of the country, to the United States.

Note that the Mexican National Guard has deployed more than 14,000 troops in the South, to enforce the sovereignty of Mexican territory.
