Les Cayes : escape of 28 prisoners

On the evening of August 14, 2021, 28 prisoners escaped from the Cayes prison after the earthquake hit, revealed Tuesday Ronald Richemond, the Les Cayes government commissioner. Hours after the earthquake, inmates set fire to 7 cells and made their way through the back of the prison and then escaped. Prison officials will shortly communicate the list of escapees, said the Chief Prosecutor, stressing that the escapees are actively sought by the police. Prisoners have been transferred to the national penitentiary and to the Petit-Goâve prison.

Air bridge between the South and Port-au-Prince

Earthquake : In DR the diaspora is mobilizing

The Embassy of Haiti in the Dominican Republic expresses its gratitude to the Dominican authorities for their solidarity with the Haitian people. Donation from the National Brewery

The Brasserie Nationale d'Haïti (BRANA), at this time of great pain and mourning for the Haitian people, is deeply saddened by the devastating effects of the earthquake. The Brasserie "offers its most sincere condolences to the victims of this tragedy". To meet immediate needs, BRANA is donating 96,000 bottles of Malta H to the affected population and will donate emergency medical supplies to frontline healthcare providers.

Earthquake : UN releases 8 million

The United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund (UNCERF) released $8 million to support the humanitarian response after the earthquake that rocked southern Haiti on Saturday. This donation will help meet the immediate water, shelter, food & care needs of those affected.

Cap-Haitien sending firefighters in reinforcement

Firefighters from the Town Hall of Cap-Haitien go to the aid of the victims of the Great South. The Municipal Commission of Cap-Haitien dispatched on August 16, 2021, a team of firefighters from the civil protection service of the Town Hall, in order to come to the aid of the victims of the earthquake of August 14, 2021 which devastated the Great South. These experienced and equipped technicians will reinforce a team of 12 city firefighters already in the field.
