Haiti - FLASH : Tropical storm «Grace» will hit Haiti on Monday
This Sunday, August 15 at 5:00 a.m. the center of Tropical Storm Grace was located near 16.9 degrees North latitude and 64.4 degrees West longitude.
Grace is traveling in a west-northwest direction at nearly 16 mph (26 km/h). A slower forward speed is expected over the next few days.
Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65 km/h) with stronger gusts. Some strengthening is expected before Grace reaches Hispaniola Island on Monday followed by weakening as the system will cross Hispaniola on Monday and Monday evening. Little change in strength is expected on Tuesday. Grace should pass over Haiti during the day and evening of Monday, August 16, 2021.
Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 35 miles (55 km) from the center.
In the Dominican Republic and Haiti 4 to 7 inches of rain (10 to 18 cm) with isolated maximums of 10 inches (25 cm). Heavy rainfall could lead to flash floods and urban flooding and possible mudslides from Monday to Tuesday.
