Haiti - Peste Porcine : A Dominican agronomist convinced that the disease entered by the border in Dajabón

On Sunday August 8, the former Senator and pig breeder in the border area the agronomist Mario Torres on the airs of TRA Teleradio América, suggested to President Luis Abinader, to instruct the Ministry of Agriculture to coordinate actions against the African Swine Plague (ASF), with Haitian animal health authorities.

He said the task of eradicating this disease from the island "can only be achieved quickly and safely by uniting the breeding organizations of the two Nations", stressing "it would be pointless if all pigs were slaughtered on this side of the border, if Haiti does not do the same."

Torres said he was convinced ASF entered through the border, notably through Dajabón stressing "no matter what the country's agricultural authorities may think that it is in Montecristi that the first pig deaths took place."
