Haiti - Reconstruction : Martelly requests the renewal of the IHRC

During the 7th meeting of the Board of the Interim Haiti Recovery Commission (IHRC), the President of the Republic, Michel Martelly, requested the renewal of the mandate of the IHRC for a period of 12 months.

"...I asks to all national and international bodies concerned to work jointly and quickly to renew the mandate of the IHRC for a further period of 12 months, beyond the deadline of October 20, 2011. We must absolutely meet these deadlines if we want to continue to enjoy of an uninterrupted flow of reconstruction assistance and manage the resources effectively as part of the strategic platform that represents the IHRC..." adding that "...Now we must move forward, to effectively accomplish the changes that I promised to make, to the benefit of our citizens and create the conditions for the recovery of our country..."

In April 2011, Jean Max Bellerive the co-President of the IHRC had proposed to study the possible extension of mandate of 18 month of the IHRC which ends in October 2011, and this, before the installation of the new government on May 14.
