Haiti - Agriculture : Important distribution of materials to Associations of fishermen in the South-East
Thursday, May 20, as part of the artisanal fishing project, Patrix Sévère the Minister of Agriculture distributed several batches of equipment to fishermen's associations in the South-East department. This distribution is part of the project phase which is a co-financing phase being carried out in 19 communes spread across the departments of the South, Grand-Anse and South-East.

This activity follows a first batch of equipment already distributed to associations which included 34 Yamaha brand 15HP boat motors and 20 complete solar freezers (solar panels, batteries and freezers).

For this second phase, it is question of distributing, in the three departments concerned by the project, 101 boat motors, two fiberglass boats, 1,218 coolers, 200 life jackets and 35 solar freezers.

In order to ensure the durability of the materials, Minister Sévère asked the beneficiaries to manage them effectively. He explained that his Ministry will always listen to the operators of this sub-sector which he describes as very promising and affirmed that he planned to work to extend this project to other regions of the country in order to continue the process of improvement of the living conditions of fishermen.
