Haiti - Agriculture : Minister Sévère launches the PROSAN Alliance in the South-East
Thursday, May 20 in Jacmel, within the framework of the "Main dans la main" program of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Agronomist Patrix Sévère, Minister of Agriculture launched the Alliance for the Promotion of Food and Nutritional Security (PROSAN) in the presence of the Spanish Agency for International Development (AECID), several civil society organizations from the South East and Non-Governmental Organizations.
Jose Luis Fernández, FAO Representative in Haiti explained that the joint approach of the PROSAN Alliance, an initiative of AECID, is an important asset at a time when approximately 4 million Haitians in the country are affected by hunger according to the estimate of the National Food Security Coordination (CNSA). This alliance aims to facilitate the management and coordination of planned actions and aims to eradicate hunger, malnutrition and poverty by 2030. It will improve food security and agricultural development in several areas. communes of the Southeast Department, explained.
During the launch, Minister Sévère urged actors in the South-East to continue to harmonize their interventions with the efforts made by the Departmental Directorate of Agriculture in order to address the problems related to food insecurity.

The Alliance for the Promotion of Food and Nutritional Security (PROSAN) is an initiative of AECID, in collaboration with the FAO, the Ministry of Agriculture, the NGO "Mouvement d'integration pour la Promotion Sociale" (MIPROS), Faith and Joy Haiti, Women in Democracy, the Spanish Red Cross and the NGO CESAL, who have united for Food Security in the South-East of Haiti.
