Louis Gonzague Edner Day, the Acting Minister of the Interior, accompanied in particular by Joachim Yvansky, Vice-delegate of the Lascahobas district (Center Dept.), carried out an inspection tour at the Belladère border post and announced several measures corrective measures for more effective control, in particular of the migratory flow.

To begin, Minister Day visited the Office of the Directorate of Immigration and Emigration (DIE) in charge of controlling the migratory flow and met with the Deputy Supervisor, Dumesil Pierre Jacques, Head of the post of Belladère, as well as immigration officers. Minister Gonzague heard the grievances of the DIE Agents, relating in particular to safety, equipment, transport and salary conditions and undertook to work to gradually improve their situation. He called on them to act in an impartial, loyal, efficient and responsible manner in the exercise of their function.

Subsequently Day visited the police station and various other infrastructures of this border post, on the Haitian side.

At the end of this tour, the Minister of the Interior announced the establishment, in a short time, of a set of technical provisions in order to standardize and strengthen the control of migratory activities, relatively important at this level of the border. between the two countries.

These measures should in particular allow operations to take place in better conditions for people crossing the border in both directions. In addition, it will also help to make even more effective the customs arrangements already in place, which receive a significant volume of travelers and goods. Finally, they aim to curb trafficking and reduce the huge deficit recorded by the Haitian State through customs taxes not collected due among other things to corruption and smuggling.
