Haiti - Politic : Sorel Jacinthe met the Chief of the Minsutah
The Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations in Haiti, Mariano Fernández Amunátegui, was received yesterday in the Chamber of Deputies by Sorel Jacinthe, the President of the Chamber of Deputies, as part of a courtesy visit.
The two men have discussed of the political situation in which the country finds itself, and the delay in the formation of Government, and in the ratification process of the Prime Minister-designate, two subjects that have been a shared concern.
"It's not too late, but it is important now to pass this milestone," said the President of the Lower House after the meeting. To resolve the crisis, Sorel Jacinthe advocates the dialogue. "We need to sit around a table [...] this in too long and is the country and Parliament who suffer".
For his part the head of the Minustah wished "the installation of the Government so that the latter can begin to work," while specifying [probably to avoid the rumors about the meeting], that "It is to the Executive and to the Parliament to agree on the question of the ratification of the Prime Minister..."
The various forms of support of the Minustah to Parliament, which consists in particular to work with the Haitian institutions for the establishment of a stronger democracy were also on the agenda of this first meeting.
