Haiti - Sports : Naomi Osaka will open a tennis academy in Haiti

The star of world tennis, the Japanese Naomi Osaka proud of her Haitian origin, world #2 and quadruple Grand Slam champion, the highest paid player in the world https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-30848-haiti-news-zapping.html , has announced that she will be opening a tennis academy in Haiti her father's country and one in Los Angeles where she currently resides.

With the help of its sponsors Nike and Laureus Sport for Good, Osaka wants to ensure that everyone interested in the sport has the opportunity to pick up a racquet and master their skills. "We believe that all kids — especially girls — deserve a chance to play, no matter where they come from or what they look like, Osaka said.” The more we provide girls with opportunities to get active, the opportunities we are giving them to become leaders in their respective communities."

"Growing up, I dreamed about winning Grand Slams and becoming number one in the world, Osaka recounts. “While it was not easy, my family was dedicated to helping get the access I needed to reach my goals. But unfortunately, not all girls have the same opportunities I was afforded."

Naomi Osaka also recognizes how important it was for her to have access to these types of facilities and how much it helped her achieve her dreams of dominating the sport of tennis. Now she wants this generation to do the same a little easier.

The academy in Haiti will not be limited to tennis. Naomi's vision is to ensure that female coaches are hired and to provide girls with education to help them build their confidence, self-esteem and leadership skills.
