Haiti - Cooperation : Signature of a MoU between Haitian and Spanish Universities
This Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at the Embassy of Haiti in Spain, in the presence of Ambassador Louis Marie Montfort Salntil, and José Manuel Pingarrón Carrazón Secretary General of Universities; Jean Robert Charles the President of the Conference of Rectors, Presidents and Directors of Haitian Universities and Higher Education Institutions (CORPUHA) and José Carlos Gómez Villamandos President of the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE) will sign a 4-year collaboration memorandum of understanding, renewable by mutual consent.
The main objective of this Legal document is to define a framework of collaboration where the two parties commit themselves to developing, with the Universities concerned, a partnership in terms of research, training and higher education of quality.
In addition, the Universities adhering to it will have the opportunity not only to share their technical, scientific and human resources in order to carry out common projects, but also to transfer knowledge and know-how in various fields.
Outline of the framework agreement :
Ensure the follow-up of the agreed mechanisms and processes in the planning and execution of the activities of this framework agreement;
Ensure the supervision and control of the application of the clauses of the said agreement;
Seek funding from national and international donors for the financing of projects;
Carry out joint training, research and other projects to contribute to the scientific, cultural and socio-economic development of the two countries.
On the sidelines of this signing ceremony, several activities are planned for the Haitian delegation staying in Madrid, including working meetings with Spanish academic and cultural bodies, with : the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development (AECID), the Director of the Diplomatic School of Madrid, the Secretary General of the Ibero-American University Council (CUIS), the President of the Hispano-Haitian Chamber of Commerce and institutional visits to the Campuses of the Universities Camilo José Cela and Rey Juan Carlos both located in Madrid.
