Haiti - Security : 5th Peace Accord and Presentation of Certificates

The Community Safety Program of Viva Rio, in partnership with the mayors of Port-au-Prince, Cité Soleil and Delmas, the section Community Violence Reduction (RVC) the Minustah and the National Police of Haiti (PNH), has officially launched yesterday Wednesday the fifth Peace Accord. The event took place at the community center of Viva Rio, Kay Nou, located at 67 boulevard Jean Jacques Dessalines. This activity has also been an opportunity for the section of Human Rights of the United Nations Mission for Stabilization in Haiti (Minustah) to make a presentation of certificates to the Community Protection Brigade (BPK) of Viva Rio.

Thanks to the Peace Accord signed annually, the violence has significantly decreased in the area of Bel Air. The 2011 Peace Accord brings together the PNH, the RVC, the Minustah, Viva Rio, the town halls of Port-au-Prince, of Cité Soleil and of Delmas, the liaison officers, and 105 community leaders (28 more than last year) volunteers to get involved in their community, coming from various sectors of civil society, women and men, young and elderly.
