Haiti - DR: The price of visas remains the same, without any variation

The Dominican consul in Juana Méndez (Haiti), José Valenzuela, reacted with surprise to the statements of popular organizations which denounce an increase in the price of the stay visa for Haitians to enter the Dominican Republic.

"We have not increased or planned to increase the price of said visa, and there is not intermediaries in the process of issuing the document, as has been revealed, "Valenzuela said in a press release.

He also denied that consulate officials manipulate visa applications to the detriment of Haitian citizens, stressing that, "on the contrary, the visa issuance process is done transparently, in accordance with the directives of President Luis Abinader, to through the Dominican Chancellery. "

"We want to clarify that the current price of the visa is 200 dollars, it was not increased of one dollar , nor any handling and even less a shortage of stamps to seal the document for travel in our country."

The consular official argued that promoting this "false information" is doing a disservice to good relations between Haiti and the Dominican Republic, a complaint that apparently comes from sectors dissatisfied with certain determinations adopted by the consulate, in order to be transparent and achieve greater efficiency in the services offered.

“In that sense, there are people who may not feel good, but it hasn't crossed our minds to make any increase in the services we provide,” the Dominican consul explained.

He said that if there is anyone who has information or a complaint, they can go to the consulate and deal with any disagreement, as they would gladly take the corrections in place.

He also clarified that he alone is responsible for the Consular Directorate and that no one can act on his behalf without his consent.
