Haiti - Culture : «Corps mêlés»  finalist of The Prize of Five Continents of La Francophonie

The novel Corps mêlés (Mixed body) of the Haitian writer Marvin Victor published by Gallimard was selected along with nine other books among ninety-two novels participating to the contest of the 10th edition of the Prize of Five Continents of La Francophonie that rewards each year a novel in French.

These ten shortlisted books were chosen by representatives of the four committees of reading

the Enter Reading Association of Belgique, the Writers Association of Senegal, Association of the Prize of the young French writer and the Collective of writers of Lanaudière of Quebec.

The jury, presided by Lyonel Trouillot will select the winner among the ten finalists in September and should meet in Tunis, on the occasion of the International Book Fair of Tunis, to give the Prize to the winner, a prize which is accompanied of an amount of 10 000 euros. While the International Organization of la Francophonie will promote the winner on the literary scene until the proclamation of the next winner.

The 10 finalists are:

Marvin Victor was born and lived in Port-au-Prince, dtwo months after January 12, he left Haiti and moved to New York. Corps mêlés is his first novel. His story, carried away by a violent lyrics, paints the beauty of a world that never ceases to rise from the rubble. In 2007, Marvin Victor was the second winner of the 23rd edition of the Prix du Jeune Écrivain francophone for his text: "Haïti, Je, moi, moi même". He is also a painter and filmmaker, in the United States Marvin continues to paint and produce documentaries and short films as he did in Port-au-Prince before his departure..
