Haitian clubs sanctioned by CONCACAF

In correspondence to the Haitian Football Federation (FHF), the Confederation of North America, Central America and the Caribbean Football "CONCACAF" prohibits Haitian clubs from hosting international home matches for acts of violence. "Haitian clubs are sanctioned for one year", one can read in the note bearing the signature of the Secretary General of CONCACAF, Philippe Moggio.

Statement by the US Embassy

As judges’ organizations continue their strike in Haiti, the United States reaffirms its support for an independent judiciary, free from executive interference.

An effective democracy requires an independent judiciary, a functioning legislature, and an executive that protects the rights of all.

Remarks by Renald Lubérice on the Democratic Norm

"Democratic norm also means disqualifying those who use violence to challenge electoral processes and fight elected officials who participated in elections they themselves could not win. To pretend to ignore this is to disrespect Haiti and its people. Democratic standard also means that a judge cannot proclaim himself 'President of the Republic' without the constitution providing for it, in defiance of the law on the judiciary. To tolerate such acts is not to respect Haiti and its people," Renald Lubérice, Secretary General of the Council of Ministers

Command meeting

On Friday a Command Meeting was held at the General Directorate of the Haitian National Police. Rockefeller Vincent, the Minister of Justice who took part in the meeting in his capacity as Vice-President of the Superior Council of the National Police, praised the efforts of the police to maintain public order. The Director General a.i of the PNH, Léon Charles took the opportunity to ask the government to acquire suitable equipment and materials in order to effectively combat banditry and kidnapping in particular.

OAS meets Minister of Public Works

Cristo Dupouy, the Special Representative of the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS) in Haiti had a meeting with Nader Joaséus, the Minister of Public Works to discuss the communal development plans facilitated with the support of USAID and the PADF as well as the Government's commitment to build 7 km of road at Dumont (Port Salut).
