Following the First Edition of the Municipal Forum on Youth Entrepreneurship (FOMEJ) initiated by the Municipal Authorities of Cap-Haitien in October 2020 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-31792-haiti-news-zapping.html and to respond effectively to the problem of solid waste in Haiti's second largest city (Downtown, Petite-Anse, Bande-du-Nord, Haut-du-Cap), the Cap-Haitien Town Hall has just promoted the creation of 3 parent companies and 28 local micro-enterprises.

This approach falls within the framework of the objectives set by the Communal Commission, since the FOMEJ was held at the Town Hall, with the aim of resolving the problem of waste in the Cité Christophienne by involving citizens, especially young entrepreneurs. It also consists of promoting existing Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and encouraging the creation of new enterprises in order to achieve the real emergence of a new class of entrepreneurs in the municipality.

For the moment, young people from Lafossette, Conassa, Sainte-Philomène and Cité Lescot are asked to follow this same process by creating 4 other micro-enterprises which will be specialized in the collection and management of solid waste in the areas mentioned above.
