Haiti - Politic : The presidential liaison team criticized

The liaison team, named last Saturday by the President Michel Martelly, to reach an agreement with the political groups, in order to ensure a favorable vote by both houses of the future Prime Minister, is openly criticized by some parliamentarians.

The presence of Thierry Mayard Paul, who had said earlier that President Martelly did not want to compromise is the subject of ironic comments from the Deputy Levaillant Louis-Jeune (INITE) "Perhaps, he wants to learn to negotiate this time, not to fall into the same traps..."

For Senator Jean William Jeanty (Konba), "The liaison team, is not important". The Senator believes that the President Martelly should conduct the negotiations "rather than entrust them to third parties". He is convinced that the Head of State "wants preferably, make pass the time..."

This view is shared by the Senator Jean Hector Anacacis "[...] I wonder if the President Martelly, makes pass the time [...] so far I do not see his dedication to appoint another Prime Minister. Why there is a liaison committee ? [...] The Parliament, it's the Parliament of President and the President, is the President of Parliament, the President of the Haitian people. It is the people who voted, who has given us a mandate, responsibilities, we must work together, we are not obliged to have an intermediary between us..."

Undoubtedly, the strategy of advisers of the Presidency disturbs. Perhaps it is less easy for the parliamentarians of experience "to manipulate" a liaison team, that a novice President...
