In commemorating another anniversary of the Independence Day of the Republic of Haiti, we wish to express on behalf of the people and the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity of the Republic of Nicaragua, and on our own behalf, our congratulations to you, the people and the Government of the Republic of Haiti.

On this momentous and historic date when Haiti became the first country in the hemisphere to break the chains of colonialism and slavery, we join you and your people in commemorating this national holiday which fills us with pride and dignity.

The Government of Reconciliation and National Unity of the Republic of Nicaragua takes the opportunity to reaffirm its willingness to continue strengthening the bonds of friendship and solidarity between our two peoples, as well as its commitment to continue working together to overcome the great challenges of our time.
