Haiti - Politic : Inauguration of 2 new solar-powered water pumping stations

Saturday, November 21, President Jovenel Moïse, accompanied by his wife Martine, Abner Septembre, the Minister of the Environment, the Ambassador of Taiwan (Republic of China) Wen-Jianm Ku, Jean Wesnel Edrouine Pervil, President of the municipal commission of the commune and members of the local community inaugurated two solar-powered pumping stations (donation from Taiwan) in the commune of Croix-des-Bouquets.

With a watering capacity of 150 hectares of land, and pumping 1,300 gallons of water per minute, the installation of these solar pumps is part of a national project of the Ministry of the Environment which aims to put available to the population, 300 solar-powered pumping systems nationwide https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-32020-haiti-technology-towards-the-installation-of-more-than-300-solar-powered-water-pumping-systems.html

"Make water accessible throughout the country using solar energy, that's what I promised and that's what I continue to do," declared Jovenel Moïse adding "Today is the Latramblay 12 growers' turn to receive their solar-powered pumping system [...] Thanks to the installation of these systems, the agriculture will resume its place as the engine of the commune's economy."

In his intervention, Minister Septembre explained that the installation of this equipment should contribute to improving the living conditions of communities, specifying that it is the Ministry of Agriculture and the National Directorate of Drinking Water and of Sanitation (DINEPA), which will ensure the management and distribution of water in collaboration with the local population. He also called on the population to safeguard these systems which can last up to 25 years.
