Haiti - Education : Martelly and the importance of technical branches

The President Michel Martelly, has inaugurated yesterday, a learning workshop of wood construction and a learning workshop in electricity to the Polyvalent Center of Professional Training to Carrefour. The ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of France, Mr. Didier Le Bret, the Mayor of the town of Carrefour, Yvon Jérôme, rectors of the Academy of Guadeloupe and the University Quisqueya, and of Deputy of Marchand-Dessalines, M. Gracia Delva.

This project is the result of the cooperation between the private and public sectors of the French Republic and Haiti through the NGO "Aide et Action", the Haitian and French Ministries of Education, the Schneider Electric Foundation/France and the University Quisqueya.

By appearing personally at this event, the President Martelly wished to reiterate the importance that he gives to the technical branches which should occupy a fundamental place in the current context where we are talking about rebuilding the physical infrastructure of the country.

"The reconstruction is one of our top priorities. It is therefore imperative that we concentrate our efforts to train workers and managers of good level in the building sector. Because it is necessary to prevent the non-compliance of standards due to a lack of professionalism...", has informed the Head of State. He encourages young people to learn a technical trade to contribute to their personal development and to the reconstruction of their country.

The President has promised to oversee and promote all initiatives that enable young people to acquire a profession and has pledged to take steps to multiply such experiences across the country.
