Haiti - NOTICE : Formal ban on driving without license plates
Audain Fils Bernadel Minister of the Interior, advises the population in general and drivers of motor vehicles in particular, that in order to contribute to strengthening the security situation and in particular to combat acts of kidnapping against ransom :
"[...] the Haitian Government, through the Superior Council of the National Police (CSPN), formally prohibits the circulation of vehicles, all types combined, without license plates on public roads.
To this end, the Ministry of the Interior informs owners and drivers of automobiles, motorcycles and motor vehicles generally any, that the police are instructed to stop any vehicle or motorcycle not equipped with license plate, regardless of their ownership, throughout the national territory and in accordance with the provisions of the laws and regulations in force on vehicle registration.
These provisions take effect from the publication of this document (November 9, 2020)."
