Haiti - Spain : The Apostolic Nuncio wishes a Haitian Constitution adapted to reality
Mgr. Bernardito Cleopas Auza, Representative of the Holy See in Spain and Andorra met this week with the Ambassador of Haiti to the Kingdom of Spain, Dr. Louis Marie Montfort Saintil, with a view to consolidating relations and dialogue between Haiti and the authorities of the Holy See.
During this meeting, Ambassador Saintil expressed, on behalf of the Haitian People and Government, his gratitude to the Holy See for its support for the promotion of Christian values in Haiti, and at the same time, argued the efforts of the Moïse-Jouthe Administration to maintain the socio-political and economic stability of the country.
In addition, the Ambassador of Haiti made a report on the steps taken by the diplomatic mission with the objective of strengthening cooperation in the political, economic and commercial fields, in particular in academic and scientific matters between Haiti and the countries of the Iberian Peninsula.
The Apostolic Nuncio thanked the Ambassador for his visit and told him of his wish that Haiti be endowed with a constitution adapted to its reality, to guarantee social cohesion, institutional stability and the revival of national economy. He also reiterated the commitment of the Holy See alongside the Haitian People and Government.
At the end of this meeting, the two men expressed their satisfaction for the good progress of relations between the Catholic Church and the Haitian people.
