Haiti - Diaspora Europe : A pre-electoral crisis with unforeseeable consequences
In a note Jocelyn Jean Louis President of the Federation of the Haitian Diaspora of Europe (FEDHE) said to follow with all the members of the Executive Bureau, with great interest the evolution of the socio-political situation in Haiti and to assist with concern "The country's bogged down in an unprecedented pre-electoral crisis insofar as it impacts not only the usual sectors of national life but also the diaspora."

Recalling that in addition to this pre-electoral crisis is added the relaunch of the debate on the Haitian Constitution. While acknowledging that all sectors of national life agree on the need to revise the mother law, he underlines "the existence of a disagreement on the process of amendment or replacement is taking place, if nothing is not done, to grab us this unprecedented opportunity that history offers us to finally endow the country with a Constitution more suited to our reality as a people and our aspirations as a Nation."

Far from believing as more than one that the current situation is "chaotic and desperate", within the FEDHE "we believe that it can, thanks to a collective awareness, offer an unprecedented opportunity to review together the bases of the Nation, to organize the long-awaited national conference, to develop a real project of society which leaves no fringe of society aside and to rethink this Nation which has been looking for its bearings for more than 2 centuries. But, to do this, we need a real compromise, a frank, honest and inclusive consultation between all sectors of national life and the diaspora without exception [...] it is only in this way that we will be able to give Haitian people to win their fight against misery, insecurity, corruption and all the injustices that have always been done to them."

The Federation of the Haitian Diaspora of Europe calls "Dear compatriots living in Haiti and abroad, the time has come for all Haitians to prioritize collective interest over individual interest, to 'think Country'. Let us find together an agreement, a real compromise to endow the country with a new Constitution and promote the organization of fair, credible and democratic elections. Let us act as responsible adults to prevent others from imposing their laws on us and attempting to reduce our country to the status of a minor state.

Let us seek union, peace and social cohesion because if each one seeks to win alone, we will all lose together to the misfortune of our dear 'Haiti chérie'"
