Following the assassination of Me Monferrier Dorval, former Professor at the State University of Haiti (UEH), former Legal Advisor to the Rectorate and former President of the Bar of Port-au-Prince, the UEH considering that the life and work of Me Dorval constitute a model and a reference for present and future generations, decided in a resolution of the Executive Council to create the "Monferrier Dorval Award of Excellence".

Extract from the resolution of the Executive Council of the IEH :

"[...] Considering the tragic circumstances of the death of Me Monferrier Dorval, former professor at the State University of Haiti, former Legal Advisor of the Rectorate, former President of the Bar of Port-au-Prince;

Considering the exemplary career of Professor Dorval who has trained several generations of legal professionals and whose competence, rigor, generosity, patriotism, and ethical sense are well known;

Considering the discussions recently started with the former President of the Bar for the implementation of joint programs aimed at reforming legal education and strengthening the ethics of the profession;

Considering the life and work of Me Dorval constitute a model and a reference for present and future generations;

The Executive Council of the State University of Haiti (UEH) adopts the following resolution:

1- A Monferrier DORVAL Award of Excellence has been created at the UEH, which will be awarded annually to the best bachelor's thesis and the best master's thesis and the best thesis in Law.

2- From the 2021-2022 financial year, an ethics course will be introduced in the teaching of Law at the UEH

3- The Academic Research Council and the tripartite commission on legal education are responsible for the implementation of these provisions.
