Haiti - Constitution : Text of the amendment, hearings under way
Yesterday, Thursday, Senator Joseph Lambert declared concerning the Senate Committee on the text of the amendment of the Constitution "...we started the first sessions of the hearings in special commission, charged to investigate on what I could call presumptions of fraud and of irregularities that we found in the document of the amended Constitution that we have forwarded to the Executive for publication. We set the working methodology of our work, we have prepared a list of questions, it is not something of exhaustive because other questions may arise based on the answers that the different people that we will audition will give us. Ultimately we set a schedule, by next week, at the beginning of the week [...] we will produce our report and submit it to the Assembly..."
Senator Lambert confirmed that Alex St-Cyr the Deputy Secretary General for Legislative Affairs was questioned under oath, "he made us a lot of revelations" has revealed the Senator. He also indicated that a technical adviser to the legislative affairs, that the Senator Jocelerme Privert, the President of the Senate and the President of the Chamber of Deputies have also been auditioned, adding that will be heard the Secretaries of the two branches of parliament.
"We will also send a letter to President Préval to ask him how he can help us shed light on the text..." said Lambert. "We will also have to question the CEO of the National Press" concluded the Senator.
