Haiti - FLASH : Outburst of violence of the «police offciers» of the «Phantom 509» Group

After having paralyzed activities in several places in the capital, set fire to and vandalized several State vehicles, including a minibus registered as State Service at the corner of avenue Martin Luther King and rue Bois patate, they attacked the Center for Reception and Delivery of Identity Documents (CRLDI) located at Delmas 31, shooting at the building, invading the premises by firing automatic weapons, sowing panic among the employees, destroying the surveillance cameras and all the equipment that was in the offices before setting them on fire. In a statement, Jude Jacques Elibert, the Director General of the CRLDI explained that the damage are considerable "[...] the equipment was completely destroyed by the flames which partially blackened the facade walls. Heavily armed "police offciers" issued another 24-hour ultimatum to the government to release their brother-in-law.
