Haiti - Social : Crocodiles in the flooded areas of Thomazeau

Crocodiles threaten people and livestock of the locality of Thomazeau (Northeast), flooded following the torrential rains that caused the overflow of Lake Azuéi [brackish pond].

According to a report of the Border Development Fund (FDF), published yesterday Monday, the situation is critical in this village, bordering with the Dominican Republic, because most homes are under water and that the saurians in search of food, can attack people and livestock. The teams of FDF are trying to find solutions to resolve the situation promptly.

Some witnesses report that crocodiles (1), some of large sizes, were seen in the flooded areas. Several residents have been evacuated, but many farmers prefer to remain on their land, despite the floods, by fear of theft and to defend with stakes, their cattle of the voracious appetite of the crocodiles, and this despite the danger and the warnings from the authorities.
